INTERVIEWS

INTRODUCTION

Berenice Alinde PhD candidate at RIRCA and our dedicated Research Project Manager.

🥼Berenice started her PhD journey in February 2025, where she is investigating how HIV infection and the timing of antiretroviral therapy (ART) initiation influence placental development in twin pregnancies. Her research focuses on characterising Hofbauer cell phenotypes and understanding discordances between the placentas of twins who share the same maternal environment. A complex and vital area of maternal-foetal immunology.

🧬She aspires to become a leading African scientist, driving impactful HIV research in vulnerable African populations and making meaningful contributions to the global scientific community.

✈ Beyond the lab, Berenice brings vision and leadership to our team. She is also a mother of two and enjoys spending quality time with her family as well as travelling and exploring new places.
